If you think getting out of bed in the early morning for a workout session before work is a tough ask, you only need to walk into Anytime Fitness’s Moorabbin branch to see that there is never a bad time to squeeze some exercise into your daily routine.

Anytime Fitness, a 24-hour gym, is open every day at all hours and owner Matthew Walker says there are always members working out at all times of the day.

“You’d be surprised of the number of people who come in at 3am,”he says. “We have a lot of shift workers living and working around Moorabbin, so for them the middle of the night is their equivalent of 5pm!”

Since the Moorabbin branch opened in June 2012, the gym has gained popularity from customers for its no-fuss approach to fitness. As a 24/7 facility, groups classes are limited, but flexibility of being able to come to the gym at any time has meant that the gym attracts both fitness junkies, professional sportspeople as well as the casual gym user in equal measure.

“Our focus here is mainly on functional training, which means focusing on a mix of cardio and weights-based exercises that is accessible even to the casual gym member and results in an improvement of overall fitness,”Walker explains.

Taking a different approach to group fitness, Anytime Fitness Moorabbin does group training sessions instead, where smaller groups of up to 5 – 7 people are matched based on strength and fitness levels. The small group numbers mean participants get a similar experience to a personal training sessions, with plenty of one-on-one time with the trainer, but without the cost.

Meanwhile, personal training sessions are available for booking with a variety of trainers with expertise in different sports from professional bodybuilding to AFL, and members will be carefully paired with the personal trainer most suited to their fitness goals.

Under Walker’s ownership, Anytime Fitness Moorabbin has been a great supporter of local sports.

“We sponsor as many of the local sporting groups in the area as we can –we’ve sponsored and promoted football, netball, basketball, gridiron and cricket teams,”he says.

His contribution to community sports has earned Walker a nomination for the 2014 Victorian Young Achiever Awards and a runner-up result for the Small Business Achievement Award. This achievement and Walker’s dedication to building a no-fuss gym with a focus on training individuals based on their unique needs has certainly put Anytime Fitness on the map.
