Moorabbin by Chelsea McDonald is an energetic expression of many possibilities in Moorabbin. It is full of ideas, strategies and inventions that delighted the jury. There is much personality, humour and colour injected into the drawings and text, with considered approaches to life on the street. The hand-drawn plans, sections, perspectives and text are clear and communicate bold ideas such as technologically advanced lighting, public blackboards and perspex domes for aquarium viewing.
Moorabbin is a lesson in personalization and simple graphics, and reminds us there are many lenses through which to view a street. In an urbanizing city, our children will grow into and become part of a more social places than previous generations, and if Chelsea has her way there will be some pretty cool stuff in Taylor Street.
