Heat Street by students Alastair Jaffray and Wendy Walls, addresses recent statistics supporting the heat island effect, scientifically testing this theory within Moorabbin Junction. The Jury was impressed with the robust testing and research presented to reiterate the role of the Landscape Architect in mitigating the effect of urban heat islands through clever design.
Heat Street confronts the issue of urban heat islands within the context of climate change and demonstrates the importance of environmental design within developing sites. The Jury agreed that this was a winner for its level of sophistication and relevance to the design profession today.
