Moorabbin Central Park

‘Central Park’ looks to create a sense of flow, a new parkway involves a subterranean pedestrian tunnel to avoid any physical or visual contact with vehicles when crossing South Road. In the central park area traffic is eliminated, integrating Taylor Street and Central Avenue into a circuit of linear rain water gardens and multi-functional open spaces.

A mosaic feature is proposed to guide pedestrians from the train station to the main garden, experiencing nature and walking through an informal open space where a flea market or pop up stores will be located to offer entertainment to locals and visitors in the hearth of Moorabbin.

The parking areas would be relocated under Woolworths in a proposed multi-level subterranean parking zone. The plant selection will suit the compromise to use vegetation as part of the living links corridor offering the most sustainable and rich ecosystem.
