Life will return to the streets of Moorabbin Junction, with inviting new shops, cafes, restaurants, and art and entertainment, which will fill the space created by making Station Street one way.
Kingston Council is working with VicTrack and VicRoads on ways to manage road congestion and the expected increase in traffic upon completion of the Dingley Bypass. One of these projects is to make Station Street one-way northbound.
This will allow the pavement to be widened near the station car park and create room for temporary pop up shops. These types of pop up shops are usually made from fully fitted-out shipping containers. They are colourful, low cost and add a lot to the character of an area. Examples of where this is already happening can be seen in Christchurch, New Zealand.
