Vital traffic intervention is needed to manage the expected increase in road congestion upon completion of the Dingley Bypass.
Those traffic changes are also a catalyst for unlocking the potential of Moorabbin Junction because the separation of through traffic from vehicles that are visiting the centre will reduce the number of cars on the streets and foster the concept of Moorabbin Junction as a destination for people.
A traffic study has shown the following changes are needed:
- Central Avenue to become a one-way, pedestrian friendly mall
- Station Street to become one-way
- Signal changes at South Road/Nepean Highway intersection
- Close median strip to prevent rat-runs to Jasper Road
- Four-way signalised intersection to provide direct access to Woolworths

April 2016 Update – Have your say on local traffic issues
Major changes are underway to realise the full potential of Moorabbin Junction thanks to significant public and private investment in the area. Kingston Council is committed to fostering Moorabbin Junction as a destination where people live, meet, shop and dine – rather than a place people pass through at high speed. These changes will require careful management of traffic, parking and road safety in the area. Council is calling for community input to help guide a new traffic management plan for the area.
